SOPA- Stop Online Piracy Act:

“To promote prosperity, creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation by combating the theft of U.S. property, and for other purposes.” (SOPA or known as H.R. 3261)

There are pros and cons upon this newly introduced bill in the U.S. which was imposed recently on Oct. 26, 2011. Others see this to be advantageous for companies to protect their own innovative ideas. Also, allowing “unauthorized streaming of copyrighted content a felony”, protecting all intellectual property.

On the other hand, some may argue that it limits our inability to express free speech and “kill innovation that disrupts their business models”, threatening the evolution of new ideas.

Sooner or later, the next Twitter, Youtube or even Facebook will be banned before it sets foot in the public eye. The reason being is that companies think that a similar product to their own may be invading their originality in which they will most certainly use the tool of SOPA; in order to eliminate the competition. I guess, in the end we’ll have to bid farewell to the dynamics of inventing new ideas.

This is just another example of a DOG EAT DOG WORLD, it really is the Survival of the Fittest to be able to survive in this economy.
